POOR old working mums. We knew we had it tough, what with juggling the needs of the family and the nine-to-five and trying to scrape Weetabix off our trousers before the next meeting, but now it seems there is a new enemy at the door.
The EarringsAnd it's an enemy within.
The Working Mother's report found more than half of working mothers said childless women were less understanding of the demands facing them.
The survey of 1,500 paints an ugly picture of women undermining and undercutting each other while jostling for advancement and being filled with resentment at the 'special treatment' they see meeted out to mums by companies.
Ladies, please!
There are bigger fish to fry than handbagging each other because the girl with the kids has managed to get half term off.
Bigger fish like fighting for equal pay with the blokes - still a major issue in the workplace - and equal rights to rise as far as possible without hitting your head on a glass ceiling.
The report suggests those who choose not to have children feel they must cover the work of those who have; stepping into the breach when their colleagues go home early to the sick child or reorganising their holidays around the school hols.
What nonsense.
In my experience we working mums are overcompensators not slackers.
christian audigier wholesaleThey may go home early for the school run but chances are they'll put the kids to bed and then be back at their computer until late.
Those who are child-free have the right to choose not to have kids.
But those who have children have the right to bring up a family and work if they so wish or, more likely, so need.
We should be pressing for flexible workingfor everyone, whether it's to pick the kids up from school, or pursue a hobby, or just kick back with a cup of tea and This Morning.
So, before anyone without kids starts bleating about those of us with, remember it's our offspring who will be paying the taxes to care for
